Session 3: Leading with Purpose: The Foundations of Good Governance

Session 3 will be an engaging and solutions-focused session with Sandy Thompson from the LEAD Centre for Not for Profit Governance and Leadership. This interactive session is designed to empower you with the knowledge, strategies, and collective wisdom to navigate governance and leadership effectiveness with confidence.

We will draw on real-life governance experiences and explore research that not only highlights the importance of governance in building strong and resilient communities but also illustrates what effective governance looks like in Aotearoa New Zealand. This interactive session will identify how we can foster effective leadership, strong relationships, and positive decision-making within our boards.

Good governance is about more than policies and procedures; it’s about people, collaboration, and shared vision. Together, we will:

  • Reflect on governance practices that have impacted us and our communities
  • Explore Aotearoa/New Zealand grown guides and tools to enhance board effectiveness
  • Tackle current governance challenges and find practical, future-focused solutions
  • Discuss how we can strengthen and sustain our community organisations through governance leadership
