Big ideas to tackle big problems
Agenda for Change: Following the nationwide noho rāhui, SSPA worked with some sector leaders from our member organisations on what a reset of the social services system could look like. The experiences of how community and government agencies adapted and responded during the COVID-19 lockdowns and alert levels showed the challenges of the current system and offered opportunities for change. SSPA wanted our members’ involvement to shape what social sector recovery could look like. We prepared an Agenda for Change, ready to take these ideas forward with the aim being to invite a widespread collaboration for change. Our Agenda for Change set out the transformational changes we want to see for our sector’s work with children and families, and to ensure we have the innovative and sustainable provider sector we want to be. It has formed a backbone for our policy-based, system-level advocacy over the past few years. Many of these ideas have since been taken up by government.
