United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is an international human rights treaty. It outlines the rights that all children below the age of 18 have. The Convention was adopted in 1989, and New Zealand became a States Party to the Convention in 1993, meaning it is obligated to make the Convention and its rights real in practice for all children and tamariki in Aotearoa New Zealand.
